If You've seen my paintings, then you may wonder where my inspiration came from. Many times in life we can't pin down where the muse first hits. Where ideas start. But for me with my paintings, it all began with artist Chris McMahon (who's thrift store painting made it onto Weezer's new album cover). A few years ago, while strolling through some news feed somewhere on the internet, I cam across an article titled "Adding Monsters to Thrift Store Paintings". Clicking the link, I looked through the paintings and the thought came to mind...
That looks pretty cool. I could do something like that.
Now at the time it was just a thought. A glimmer of a muse that I filed away in my brain. For some time it just sat there waiting. Until one day at a church rummage sale, I found a nasty old print for three bucks and remembered the article about Chris. That day I took home two prints (in frames, of course), a bowling ball, and a physical beginning to a project that continues to evolve.
